Cork Heritage Park:
About 3.2 km (2 miles) south of the city center, this newish park is in a 19th-century courtyard on lovely grounds beside an estuary of Cork Harbour. The site was originally part of the estate of the Pike family, Quakers who were prominent in banking and shipping in Cork in the 1800s. The exhibits trace the maritime and shipping routes of Cork as well as the history of the Pike family, in a series of colorful tableaux. There is also an environmental center, an archaeology room, a small museum dedicated to the history of Cork firefighting from 1450 to 1945, and stables that house models of a saddler and blacksmith.
Fota Wildlife Park:
