Driving Tours:

Farran House is perfectly located for touring the South of Ireland. We less than an hour away from The Wild Atlantic Way and The Ring of Kerry. We provide maps with suggested touring routes.

Cork City (15 mins):

Cork is Ireland's second city and a former European city of culture, it is just 15 minutes from Farran House. We provide maps and details of its the shops, restaurants, galleries and museums.

Blarney Castle (20 mins)

Built nearly six hundred years ago by one of Ireland's greatest Chieftains. Tourists visiting Blarney Castle may hang upside-down over a sheer drop to kiss the stone. Surrounding the castle are extensive gardens. There are paths touring the grounds with signs pointing out the various attractions such as several natural rock formations with fanciful names such as Druid's Circle, Witch's Cave and the Wishing Steps. https://www.blarneycastle.ie/

Walking :

Farran Wood (5mins) Once part of the estate of Farran House, it is now a public forest park, run by the forestry board. It is located on the banks of the iniscarra resevoir, there are miles of tracks and paths, Its great place for walking or jogging. It is 2 miles from the house

The Gearagh (20 mins) “The Wooded River” is the remains of the only post glacial, alluvial forest in western Europe.  The Gearagh Loop which is approximately 6.5 KM. This is also a popular spot for birdwatchers.

Whale and dolphin migratory paths pass through the waters off the West Cork Coastline. Excursions can be organised all year round except March, April, May.
